What is Go Yoga All ABout?

In a word, Empowerment, Joy, Transformation, Freedom, Love…ok well that’s a few words.  But this is who we are. Go Yoga was created in 2008 by JP & Cassie McClellan to share their love for each other and yoga with the world.  They opened their first studio in Amelia Island, FL and sold it on August 8, 2012 to expand to Asheville, NC.  Go Yoga Asheville opened on December 21, 2012.  This date was significantly important to astronomers everywhere.  It was a perfect alignment with the Heavenly bodies.  It signified the shift away from the Dark Matter in the center of the galaxy back to the light.  Well that’s just what we’re up to. Bringing Light. So come. Shine.

The Studio Space

Asheville Yoga

Inside the amazing zen Go Yoga Asheville Downtown

The Asheville studio features 1200SF of green renovations including LEED Certified Paints and Zero-Waste cork and bamboo flooring for that soft-on-your-yogi-bare-feet-feeling.  We swapped out every lightbulb for an eco-friendly alternative. The space has a 100-year-old granite rock wall and the shelving is designed by hand (our hands) with zen simplicity and Lots of Love.  The gateway to the studio is a Japanese Torii.  The Tori is used in Shinto Shrines and signifies the separation of the profane into the Sacred.  We hand crafted our Toriis. We designed our space with love and intention and together we co-create  portal into transformation.

The Co-Creators

JP & Cassie are, self-proclaimed Buddescipalians (Buddhists & Episcopal’s,) JP has spent time in Plum Village, the monastery of Zen Master Thicht Nhat Hahn and has been heavily influenced by the Eastern simplicity of Zen Design.  Cassie attended the University of Hawaii and was deeply touched by the Aloha Spirit of the islands.  Together they blended their dreams, love and time to create the space and the practice.

We teach Baptiste Yoga.  JP and Cassie are certified Baptiste Yoga Instructors. They have studied yoga in India and are certified under the government of India in Classical Yoga.  They bring the traditional roots yoga and blend it with the modern applicability of Baron Baptiste’s signature Journey into Power. They are also members of the Order of Interbeing and Innitiates into Kriya Yoga by a direct disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda. They blend many styles of yoga into their powerful and inspirational class.

What is the Baptiste Methodology?

A potent physical yoga practice, meditation and active self inquiry are used as tools of transformation – encouraging students to reclaim their full potential, discover creativity, awaken passion, create authenticity, spontaneity, confidence and new possibilities. Baptiste Yoga is a complete body workout designed to remove rubbish and toxins from the body giving the student permission to shine. It is practiced in the heat to keep students safe from injury and jump start the metabolism. We offer world-class yoga instruction adapting the practices and processes to individual needs and talents – placing emphasis on clear language and a strategic technique that makes Baptiste Yoga accessible to everyone regardless of fitness level, age, experience or background. Modification and adaptability are techniques used in the practice to empower everyone and it makes Baptiste Yoga Available to all.

What is a Class Like?

An inspiring and perspiring all-levels power yoga practice that in the words of our teacher Baron Baptiste, “…transcends the mere physical and enters the dimensions of the entire human condition.”  Classes are challenging, uplifting and stimulating.  This is a complete body workout/rinse.  The sequence was designed as a form of yogic conditioning for NFL athletes to keep them injury free and mentally focused during game time. In 60-90 minutes we will tone, strengthen and fine tune the body and mind.

Baptiste Power Yoga is a brilliant synthesis of different traditions of yoga. The multi-level flow allows for beginners, intermediate and advanced students to be challenged in the same class. The practice is energizing and flowing, suitable for all levels of students. Classes are 60-90 minutes and can be modified as the student sees fit.  For optimum results we balance the room temperature and humidity to allow the muscles to relax, bringing suppleness to soft tissue and perspiration for cleansing and removing the rubbish from the body. The typical target for temperature/humidity is 85 degrees at 50% humidity up to 90 degrees at 40% humidity.

The Baptiste Yoga method recognizes that life is an ongoing process of transformation. As students of Baptiste, we have found this life practice has heightened our awareness as individuals and as a couple, expanded our horizons and empowered us to share this process with others. We continue to grow closer and more in harmony with each other as we incorporate the teachings into our life.
